What a year!

Dear Royal Watchers,
The end of a tumultuous year (for the world in general, and the Royal Family specifically) is finally almost here and brighter days are ahead. So much has happened these past 12 months, on a worldwide scale and within the gilded walls of Windsor. Before we get into our lookback at 2020, I want to personally thank you, dear readers, for not only reading this little newsletter week after week, but writing in with your comments and stories. I read every single one of them and truly appreciate the support, even if you don’t always like the content 😂
I would like to also announce that this will be the last Watching the Royals newsletter I write. Starting in the new year, my colleague Maija Kappler will be taking over. Maija may be a familiar face to some of you; not only has she written many previous editions of Watching the Royals, but she’s an avid royal fan and critic, having written about the facts behind the plotlines on “The Crown,” whether paparazzi photos of the Duchess of Sussex violated privacy laws when she and Prince Harry lived in Canada, and whether countries could follow in the steps of Barbados and ditch the Queen as head of state. Please give her a warm welcome!
Now, back to the items at hand! Below, you'll find the biggest royals stories of 2020 that caused waves around the world. It was hard to narrow down this list — so much happened! — but we think these news items reflect the chaotic year the Royal Family endured. Check them out below!
It has been a pleasure delivering royal news to you all. Stay safe and have a healthy and happy New Year, Royal Watchers! 👑👑
