As voted for by Cruise Critic readers Following the recent Cruise Critic 2017 Cruisers Choice Awards, we were delighted to see the three top-rated destinations for European river cruises were amongst our favourites, and also the most popular with our guests. Budapest was awarded first place and it is easy to see why. Straddling the Danube river, the Hungarian capital offers superb sights to explore, with Chain Bridge, Buda Castle and Margaret Island being must-see’s, not forgetting the famous Széchenyi Thermal Baths, the largest medicinal baths in Europe. A close runner up was the German city of Würzburg, located on the Main River and best known for its lavish Baroque and Rococo architecture. Home to Bishop’s Residence, one of Germany’s largest and most ornate Baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site. Also known as the ‘Pearl of the Romantic Road’, Würzburg is surrounded by sloping hills covered with picturesque vineyards. In third place was another favourite of ours, the beautiful Austrian capital, Vienna. Home to the world-famous Opera House, Vienna has long been a centre for artistic and cultural excellence. With plentiful sights to see such as the Spanish Riding School, Town Hall and Hofburg Imperial Palace. A truly wonderful city to discover. Explore these award-winning destinations, and many others across our collection of twelve immersive 2018 European river cruise itineraries. Plus, when you book before 31st August 2017, we’re offering unlimited on-board drinks thanks to our FREE Premium Drinks Package*, along with generous savings of up to £1,250 per couple*. |
