I want the viewer to look at the selected collages as dreamscapes, with vivid color use and play on perspective and scale that dreams offer. I wanted to recreate the way the mind alters what it deems important for its own "reality" and present it with some kind of narrative. Although you may see only one scene or place, the mind creates multiple interpretations.

End Date: August 30, 2015
Location Name: Salmon Falls Gallery
Address: 1 Ashfield Street
City/Town: Shelburne Falls
Website: www.SalmonFallsGallery.com

To speak with Shutesbury artist Karen Dolmanisth is to move between worlds. When she describes her artwork, her words demand the attention of your soul. Her site specific installations require the same attention. One feels that they 'inhabit' the space in which they are built, stone by stone, thread by thread, or from whatever materials are needed for that specific time and place. You, the viewer, are invited to cohabitate, become part of the work. It is an experience in the best sense of the word.

Finding odd bits of abandoned machinery and other junk is part meditation, part obsession for this Florence sculptor and former researcher. She feels that "taking rusty farm machinery apart with an acetylene torch is almost as good as sex...It doesn't matter what the medium is, I just function better in life when I am making something." Denny creates humorous sculptures out of whatever she can get her hands on when "poking around din old dumps and wading in the river."

Monotype prints are one-of-a-kind prints, all unique! Imagine painting on a sheet of plastic, placing paper over it, then running it through my printing press. Voila, the image comes out on the paper in reverse to how you painted it! Come have fun and play with water-based inks, brushes, and different papers to create your one-of-a-kind prints. No experience necessary; three students maximum per workshop means personal attention. See website for more info. Workshops in 2015: Sept 19, Oct 17, Nov 14.
