What National Coffee Day And Contextual Commerce Have In Common
Americans love coffee. We love it so much, in fact, that National Coffee Day was celebrated across North America yesterday (and will continue to be celebrated for much of this weekend). Notably, that celebration mostly consisted of consumers being given free â or reduced price â cups of coffee at the nationâs various caffeination stations. And, though much was given to consumers, arguably much more was received by those coffee purveyors who giveth the cuppa joe to the masses. They didnât just give customers a reason to come to into the stores â they gave them commerce incentives to do so.

Does Amazon Plus Kohlâs Equal Retailâs Future?
Amazon and Kohlâs made news last week when Kohlâs announced it would accept Amazon returns in its stores. In between headlines bemoaning Kohlâs fate for letting the proverbial fox in the henhouse, Kohlâs stock price closed at more than $45 a share for the first time all year. Karen Webster asks whether this move portends a whole new take on what it means to be an omnichannel retailer, and just how far Amazon and Kohlâs, together, might push the omnichannel envelope. Which, Webster says â based on new research on retailer readiness and consumer satisfaction with the merchants they shop â could be pretty far.
