PRE-S: Join me for a Q+A call this Friday, November 18 at 2pm ET / 11am PT to discuss whether Rock Your Web Design Business is right for you. Limited registration opens on Black Friday! - - - - I am consistently impressed with small creative business owners. The ones who are making it are a whole different breed of gritty, passionate, driven human being. The best of you are curious, determined, and open to possibilities and opportunities, but still laser-focused on your goal. It's these traits that I find most endearing and most foundational in a creatives ability to build a business of their dreams to support a life that they love living. I believe that we're "creative" because we're creative in how we build our businesses and our lives. We're not betting on cookie-cutter approaches or falling into anyone's norms. Instead, we're carving our own paths, defining success on our own terms, and building the business that supports our desires. That takes some creative, out-of-the-box thinking, and that's some powerful shit. Does the idea of working 40 hours a week make you tired just thinking about it? There's another way. Do you not want to be ever-present on social media? There's another way. Do you no goal of starting a not-for-profit, but still want to have a mission? There's another way. If there's one thing that I've learned about creative business owners, it's that they'll find another way.
I've seen it. I see it in the lawyer who decides to become a photographer. I see it in the brick-and-mortar store that sources fair goods and donates to charities. I see it in the life coach who focuses on helping leaders. I see it in the planner that focuses on in-person connections. I see it - time and time again. And it gives me hope. TO-DO FOR YOU: What's your biggest struggle or block in your business? What's one thing you want to accomplish that's just out of reach? Do some creative thinking. How do you overcome it? The answer will be probably be odd, but I'm sure you can pull it off. |
