These laws just took effect in Louisiana

New state laws: A slate of new Louisiana laws took effect on Monday, including a measure that restricts health care options available to LGBTQ+ youth and a change to the state's calculation of child support payments. James Finn has the details. 


Edwards commutes: Gov. John Bel Edwards commuted the sentences of 123 prisoners last year, John Simerman and James Finn report. The moves enabled the release of several of the state's longest-serving prisoners. 


Landry appoints: Gov.-elect Jeff Landry has named new chiefs of the Department of Natural Resources, the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and the Louisiana Workforce Commission, Meghan Friedmann reports. Here's who he picked.
