BY DEANNA B. NARVESON | Staff writer Former President Donald Trump on Monday chose U.S. Sen. JD Vance of Ohio to be his running mate as he looks to return to the White House. Here are some things to know about Vance, a 39-year-old Republican now in his first term in the Senate. Another shakeup: Kevin George, director of the LSU Lab School in Baton Rouge, is pulling out of the search for a new superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish school system. In his email, sent out at 5:03 p.m., George explained why he sought the job, but said that things changed after Thursday night, when the board failed to appoint anyone to the job; it plans to try again this coming Thursday. George called it the second postponement since initially the plan was to hire a superintendent on July 1. Read more.
