For seven days in June, our speakers will cover remarkable ideas that touch all parts of society. You don't want to miss it! Here’s a glimpse of what we'll explore in two (of ten) program tracks. Stay tuned here over the coming weeks for more previews of ideas and the speakers who will be sharing them. Hope Made Visible: Innovation by Design (Festival 1) How are designers building worlds of virtual reality and augmented reality? VR experts Aaron Koblin and Jessica Brillhart sit down with Jon Wiley, director of Google’s AR/VR, to help us wrap our brains around how we’ll interact with, and even begin to rely on, these mind-bending technologies. Can architecture make or break your mood? Ingrid Fetell Lee, author of The Aesthetics of Joy, and sociologist Eric Klinenberg explain the surprising ways design and space affect our mental health and contribute to the stability of our societies. Coming to Grips with Climate Change (Festival 2) It’s been said that climate change is suffering from a PR problem. How can the science behind it be better conveyed to influence public opinion and drive individual behavioral change? Anthony Leiserowitz, director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, and Debbie Dooley, Founder of Conservatives for Energy Freedom, go over what leads to climate denial and policy gridlock. Leading environmental writer Bill McKibben has a new warning: having wasted 30 years, the time for full-tilt change is now. Just like he does in his new book Falter, he frames our pivotal climate moment and explains how we can slow the tide of disaster. Think Big. Aspen Ideas Festival: June 23 - 29 — Aspen, CO Register |
