The potential teardown of a landmark Beverly Hills mansion has once again re-sparked the debate over historical preservation vs. private property rights. StubHub cofounder Eric Baker, owner of the home, would like to demolish the $40 million, Regency-style structure originally built by Carleton Burgess in the late 1930s and later revamped by John Elgin Woolf. Elsewhere, “Black-ish” star and recent Harvard grad Yara Shahidi has celebrated her milestone achievement by purchasing a Spanish hacienda-style home in the La Cañada Flintridge community. The actress paid $4.8 million for the one-acre hillside estate, which sports a detached billiards room, terraced landscaping and a courtyard entry with hanging gardens.
