With little warning, Downing Street erupted into all-out civil war last week and Dominic Cummings, who had never seemed more secure, was out on the No10 doorstep, cardboard box in hand. While the intrigue of how we got here is fascinating, the bigger question is: where next for Boris Johnson? Charles Moore, in a thorough and deep analysis, proposes two possible outcomes. One is much more positive than the other.
The younger generation is getting its first introduction to Princess Diana through season four of Netflix’s The Crown (I watched the first episode last night, although I let Anita Singh write the review). Meanwhile, the renewed row over her Panorama interview has returned her to the headlines once more. Tina Brown, the former editor of The New Yorker and confidante of the Princess, spoke to Camilla Tominey about her last lunch with Diana and what was discussed.
Finally, it’s more than three decades since Sir Tim Berners-Lee first dreamt up the World Wide Web. It completely transformed the globe and yet it hasn’t quite turned out to be the entirely benevolent technology he might have hoped for. Nevertheless, Sir Tim has a plan to save it by turning the tables on big tech and giving power over data back to users. He tells Matthew Field all about it.
