Summer might be coming to an end (not that the summer weather ever began!) but it’s okay, because thanks to Westminster City Council, the fun is here to stay. They have a whole load of activities, events, and things to eat and drink as part of Westminster Reveals. Whether you want outdoor events, theatre, or even some skateboarding, there’ll be something for you. Here’s a little look at a few of the exciting activities!
Inside Out is a brand new festival running until October 31 2021. It includes collaborations with a bunch of the city’s theatres, galleries and more. One highlight is sure to be ‘Skate the Strand’ by Vans and Somerset House – a free event on the newly pedestrianised space between Temple and Charing Cross (from September 8 - 24), this is the festival for you.
The Artist’s Garden by LAKWENA
In October 2021, theCoLAB will open The Artist’s Garden by LAKWENA on top of Temple Underground Station. Quirky spot, yes. Lakwena is a British-Ugandan artist known for her bold designs and even more vivid social messages. For The Artist’s Garden she has created a vibrant floorscape with the message ‘Nothing Can Separate Us’. You should go and see what it’s all about. Bring the camera.
Brighten up your day with an illuminated Art Trail
Inside Out Festival will also be home to an illuminated art trail, which will showcase experiential works from a diverse variety of artists. Expect funky lighting installations combined with other mediums like paint and plaster as you meander through this enlightening (see what we did there) tour of contemporary art. It’s brought to you by MTArt Agency and Westminster City Council, and will be on through October 2021.
There’s also Underbelly at Cavendish Square, which is a pop-up festival dedicated to cabaret and comedy that runs until September 26, West End Live which includes free performances at Trafalgar Square, and a whole lot more. So don’t cry because August is over, smile because September is happening! |
