Everyone is invited to join us that evening at 6 PM for Elisabeth Chant Opening Night featuring live music by pianist Ian Daviz in the galleria. Plus, enjoy craft cocktails and more in CAM Café or the museum’s torchlit courtyard.
Join fellow art enthusiasts in honoring the life and work of an artist whose vision helped define Wilmington’s artistic identity.

| KIDS AT CAM: LET IT ALL OUT! Saturday, Feb. 8, 10 am - 12 n Members: $5 per adult/child Not-Yet Members: $10 per adult/child
We’ll combine art-making and full-body movement opportunities led by professional dancer and community partner Madeleine Pautier. Families can enjoy engaging art activities, a movement-inspired dance workshop, and an optional family-friendly exhibition tour. No prior art or dance experience is necessary—just come ready to move, create, and have fun!
Kids at CAM is a family-friendly event. Museum staff facilitate art activities for all ages, including parents. Family-friendly tours of the exhibitions are at 11:30 a.m. Families can participate in the activities, the tour, or both during their afternoons at CAM. Learn More

| | CONTEMPORARY DANCE IN FOUR WALLS Saturday, Feb. 8, 1 pm Suggested Donation: $5
Stay after Kids@CAM and join us for Contemporary Dance in Four Walls, an inspiring afternoon of movement and artistry in Thomas Sayre’s contemplative Four Walls exhibition.
The event opens with Madeleine Pautier’s Yūgen, a captivating exploration of the universe’s mysteries through dance, reflecting themes of transformation, hope, and wonder. A professional dancer with training from the Kirov Academy and BalletMet, Pautier brings deep artistry to this performance.
Next, members of the Dance Cooperative present original works inspired by the scale and textures of Sayre’s art, exploring themes of honor, sacrifice, and spirituality. Learn More |

Thomas Sayre: Four Walls
Thomas Sayre: Four Walls features new and never exhibited works by American artist Thomas Sayre (American, b. 1950). Each of the four large-scale pieces installed in Cameron Art Museum’s Hughes Wing engage the belief systems and symbols that underpin the ideals of church, nation, and creation. Made of materials that include tar, smoke, fabric gowns, gunshots, welding material, earth and fire, these works invite visitors to draw close and experience the messiness of making, and by analogy, to bear witness to the ways that life invades, entangles, and tarnishes us. Close to Home (November 19, 2024 – March 23, 2025) is a celebration of CAM’s collection featuring works by artists with a connection to our state, our region, our home. Join us as we explore images of people and places that evoke the varied spirit of our community. Beloved familiar works are joined by hidden treasures in a showcase of artistic voices; a collective search for the meaning of home. Elisabeth Chant (February 7, 2025 – April 27, 2025) North Carolina artist Elisabeth Chant (1865-1947) made an indelible mark on Wilmington’s art community. She became known for her vibrant landscapes and scenes of the North Carolina coast. Chant also created decorative designs and explored mysticism and spiritual themes, which informed her artistic style. She was instrumental in developing Wilmington’s cultural landscape, founding art classes, mentoring young artists, and establishing a community art association. This exhibition explores the people and landscapes of Chant’s world. |

| | | MEMORY CAPSULE BOXES Instructor: Anne McCombie Begin with an immersive walk through the Close to Home exhibit, sparking ideas and reflecting on what “home” means to you. Afterward, you’ll learn hand-building techniques to create a small lidded box or jar, perfect for holding keepsakes.
