Join us Thursday, May 1st at 6:30 PM for CAM After Dark with acclaimed NC artist Beverly McIver as she leads an insightful conversation surrounding her works on view in the exhibition We Belong Here: The Gutierrez Collection.

Known for her bold autobiographical paintings, Beverly McIver invites viewers into her personal story, exploring themes of family and African-American identity.

In this talk, McIver will focus on the vibrant and emotive portraits that have become signature subjects in her work. Fresh, innovative, and spontaneous in her approach, she creates series of works in a manner she describes as “painfully honest.
