Energy Realism last week hit on practical energy policies, and why renewables can be part of that. And we concluded with a tribute to one of our most vital energy and business leaders of the past 25 years: Fred Smith.

The great Gary Abernathy got us started last week. Let’s just say it, perhaps, just perhaps, our long national energy nightmare is coming to an end. In fact, three big energy projects pushed ahead by the Trump administration should give us all hope for our energy future. Yet, Drew Bond reminds us that renewables can and should be part of the equation. We must remain clear: we support renewables where and when they make economic and practical sense. Forcing them into the massive U.S. energy complex is a solution for nothing and will only cause a public backlash against these emerging technologies. President Trump has said the exact same thing. For example, John Karakoulakis explains how one small university in Colorado is changing the game on geothermal. Our own DOE head Chris Wright is from the state and is also a big fan of an all-of-the-above energy plan that includes huge Western-based geothermal resources. Finally, we must share our added video and op-ed about the sad passing of Fred Smith. You should know how this war hero and business legend changed our world. And how he evolved practical energy policy across our nation. RIP Fred.
