Throwback Thursday with AAS! Ludo Studio pitched The Strange Chores at AAS 2013, and it was picked up for development by ABC TV in Australia. The spooky animated series for kids eight to 12 went into production in 2017 with support from Screen Australia, Film Victoria, Screen Queensland and international distribution partner Boat Rocker Studio. It launched domestically last October with a special Halloween premiere, and has since sold to leading broadcasters including Sony’s Pop (UK), CBC Kids (Canada), Discovery Kids Latin America, Cartoon Network Italy, Disney Channel (Southeast Asia) and TVB (Hong Kong). Produced by Ludo and Media World Pictures, a second series was greenlit in November 2019 by ABC Australia, with 26 new episodes heading into production this month. Want to be among the first to discover this year’s best new animation concepts developing in Asia-Pacific? Registration for AAS 2020 is now open, and a $200 Early-Bird discount is in effect until Friday, August 28. In light of the continued uncertainty around the coronavirus pandemic, Kidscreen has adjusted its cancellation policy for AAS so that if it’s not possible to produce a live event because of COVID-19, all registration fees will be fully refunded. |
