MNC Animation’s Titus the Detective has done a 180-degree turn since debuting at AAS 2018. The Jakarta-based studio originally pitched the project as an animated series for TV, but then decided to switch gears and focus on developing a CGI feature film first in order to cultivate audience awareness for the series. Titus—Mystery of the Enygma launched in Indonesian theaters on January 9 and attracted 150,000 viewers running on 181 screens at theater chains including CINEMA XXI, Cinepolis and CGV. COVID-19 has disrupted production and broadcast presales efforts for the series, but MNC hopes to get both back on track in the near future.
