You can make banana bread with a mix or from scratch. But banana bread is always better with cinnamon chips!
For a quick summer dessert, keep a loaf in the refrigerator. Cut a thick slice and load it with a scoop of ice cream. Then drizzle it with buttermilk syrup and sprinkle it with pecans.
There are three keys to really good banana bread:
Banana bread should be made with "squishy ripe" bananas
No matter how ripe the bananas, add a teaspoon of banana flavor
Chill it overnight. You can store it for three or four days in the refrigerator
We've bought cases of overripe bananas and experimented with tons of recipes. "Squishy ripe" makes a huge difference, but even then, you need banana flavor.
