Good morning! We hope you had a great Labor Day. Here's a look at what we have coming up on MPR News this  cloudy Tuesday:
At 9 a.m., political scientist Wendy Schiller joins guest host Tiffany Hanssen for a conversation about the gun debate and the shrinking field of presidential hopefuls. Then at 9:30 a.m., Tiffany turns her attention to the recent U.S. labor shortages.
At 10 a.m., 1A will be talking with former BP CEO John Browne on how engineering impacted our past and will shape our future.
Then tune in at 11 a.m. to hear host Angela Davis talk with two researchers about what sleep means to a developing brain and how school districts and parents juggle that with the need for early start times. Have a question or comment to share on this topic? Let Angela know on Twitter here!
You can tune in either at noon or 9 p.m. today to hear a new debate from the Intelligence Squared series. The motion up for debate is: "The Recent U.S. Policy Towards China is Productive."

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a Blue Line train late Monday night in Minneapolis. The incident comes just days after a woman was struck and killed by a Green Line train in St. Paul.

And then there was one: Minneapolis Kmart will be last in Minnesota after latest store closures
Kmart will soon have just one store left in Minnesota.TransformCo, which owns the struggling retail chain, said it will close Kmart stores in St. Paul and International Falls by the end of the year.
MN education officials: New immigration rules could strip funding from schools, students

Minnesota's top education officials are concerned that recently announced changes to immigration rules will take funding and support away from Minnesota students and schools. The Trump administration last month announced new rules that would penalize legal immigrants who rely on public benefits.
St. Paul police investigate fatal shooting
No one has been arrested, but police say they do not believe the shooting was random. The death is the city's fifteenth homicide this year.
As rising heat bakes U.S. cities, the poor often feel it most
Hotter neighborhoods tend to be poorer in dozens of major U.S. cities. That extra heat can have serious health effects for those living there.
