Check out what’s new at the Photo Club ... PHOTO OF THE MONTH FOR NOVEMBER Barred owl on a snowy day Our criteria for picking Photo of the Month for this, the last edition of Through the Lens in 2019, was basically, “Which one of these recent Photos of the Week would make the best Canadian Geographic holiday card?” It was a tough decision between Nicole Watson’s shot of a barred owl resting in a winter forest and this incredible Kananaskis, Alta. landscape by Stephanie Janes, but ultimately we were won over by the owl’s serene expression and the beautiful composition. So consider this our greeting to you: best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season. We’ll see you in 2020! Want your photo to be chosen as a Photo of the Week? Upload your best shots to one of our Assignment Galleries for your chance to be featured! Photo: Nicole Watson/Can Geo Photo Club |

Cruising with Orca through the Fabled Fjords | This spring trip through Desolation Sound brings the best that the coast can offer: Cruising alongside orca, beneath snow-capped mountains and exploring the lush rainforest. This area is one of the world’s most popular cruising grounds, for good reason, but the waters are quiet during the spring. This trip is great for photographing scenery and wildlife, as sightings of orca and grizzly bear are possible!
