Charleston, LDC awarded $935,000 for small business loans

Construction employment dropped in 67% of 358 metro areas nationwide from August 2019 to August 2020, according to a new analysis of government data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. Unemployment claims edge up, approach 750,000

For the week ending Sept. 26, 5,132 initial unemployment claims were filed in South Carolina, bringing the total since March 15 to 749,708. Charleston County saw 361 new claims filed.

Thousands of airline employees furloughed

The day the airline industry didn’t want to see coming is here: Oct. 1, when 32,000 American Airlines and United Airlines employees face furloughs after lawmakers and the White House failed to agree on a broad pandemic relief package including more federal aid for airlines.
