Aerospace worth billions to S.C. economy

South Carolina’s aerospace industry helps support an estimated 136,244 jobs and create a $28.7 billion economic impact overall in the state, according to study unveiled at the S.C. Manufacturing Conference and Expo, which opened today.

Shem Creek Crab House quietly opens

After the September sale of Shem Creek Grill, John Keener has renovated the waterfront crab house and opened it Friday for dinner only. Keener, who owns four other seafood-focused restaurants in the area, started his career in the 1980s, working at RB’s Seafood Restaurant on Shem Creek.

$85 million solar project coming to Orangeburg County

Brewer Renewables, a subsidiary of Seahorse Capital founded in 2019, is launching the 100-megawatt facility, which has additional energy storage capacity. The solar farm is expected to be operational in 2023.

S.C. joins civil antitrust lawsuit against Google

South Carolina is one of 11 states joining the U.S. Justice Department in a civil antitrust lawsuit against Google alleging anticompetitive and exclusionary practices in the search and search advertising markets. S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson filed the suit in the U.S District Court for the District of Columbia.
