A night of music and poetry in support of Ukraine at the Southbank Centre Here's a beautiful way for Londoners to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine and the capital's Ukrainian community. On Tuesday 22 March, the Southbank Centre hosts Slava Ukraini: a very special fundraiser organised in partnership with the Ukrainian Institute and supported by the British Council, featuring classical music, poetry readings and a few familiar faces. The line-up includes a fantastic array of Ukrainian musicians and writers — more on those later — as well as London Contemporary Orchestra and renowned British actors Ben Whishaw, Jonathan Pryce and Juliet Stevenson, who'll read work by poet Ilya Kaminsky, screenwriter and playwright Lyuba Yakimchuk, and poet, essayist and translator Ostap Slyvynsky. All net proceeds from Slava Ukraini ticket sales, and funds raised during the evening, will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to help refugees fleeing war.
