Tigers rally, rally, rally past Hogs for spot in College World Series final

LSU is returning to the final of the College World Series, but first it gave fans a thriller Wednesday night. The Tigers rallied from deficits three times, the last one a three-run outburst in the bottom of the ninth inning, to defeat Arkansas 6-5 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Junior Jared Jones — who had homered earlier in the night — had the game-winning single. The Tigers now will take on Coastal Carolina in a best-of-three series beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.

If Congress slashes Medicaid spending with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as it stands now, Louisiana would lose an estimated $4 billion from the state’s treasury. State Senate President Cameron Henry says if that happens, the Legislature would have to return for a special session to figure out how to cover those losses.

"What we do there would not be pleasant, but we’d have to do it,” the Metairie Republican said.

A federal ATF agent who was shot Tuesday in Baton Rouge was participating in a sting operation that went south, leading to a robbery and gunfire, authorities said. Three men have been arrested in the incident, but the agent sustained a non-life-threatening wound.

Three Baton Rouge men in federal custody after ATF agent shot outside Triple S Food Mart

Federal agents have arrested three Baton Rouge men in connection to Tuesday's shooting of a Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents near the intersection of North Foster Drive and Fairfields Avenue. 

Torion Bobbs, age 20, and Cordell Simms, age 19, each face charges of assault on a federal officer and robbery, while Caylup Anderson, age 18, was charged with robbery and aiding and abetting. Read more
