My intent as an artist is to take those experiences and feelings and strive to express them in my paintings. As an artist, I am constantly trying to refine my work down to just those elements needed to create a strong composition and elicit emotion. I think some of the more memorable works of art are achieved with the idea that "less is more." I find some artists' work, that I greatly admire, have an indescribable elusive quality. The search for words to interpret each piece will inevitably fall short. Beyond a strong use of compositional elements, I recognize there is something intangible about each piece that I am drawn to, making it hard to explain "why I like this. . . but I do." These works of art are not just a stimulating visual experience, but also something I respond to on an emotional level. These works have the innate ability to transport the viewer into the particular moment in time being depicted, making the art seem so real - so life like. As an artist it is these elusive intangible qualities, the ones that evoke an emotional response, I strive to incorporate into my art. I heard a quote one time and I don't remember who said it or where it comes from, but I feel it best describes what I hope to accomplish when you view a piece of my art. I would like you to "see what I see, so you can feel what I felt." To learn more about this artist, check out "The Artist's Journey" written by Timothy F. Pross at Pross Wildlife Art.
