In 2019, the Association of American Medical Colleges projected a shortage of up to nearly 122,000 physicians by 2032. Along those same lines, the need for nurses was projected to outpace growth in the field as nursing school enrollment lagged behind projected demand, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. |
Cultivating a cohesive medical staff services team | Keon Williams, CPCS, CPMSM, credentialing manager for professional staff services at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, has worn many hats throughout her career in healthcare. She began at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas where she eventually became a senior medical staff coordinator. She has specialized in provider enrollment, credentialing (physician, hospital, mid-level, managed care, facility/ancillary services, and telemedicine), regulatory compliance, and delegation auditing, among many other responsibilities.
