Major companies developing artificial intelligence technology have been using content from thousands of YouTube videos to train their AI models without first obtaining permission from creators, Proof News and Wired claimed on Tuesday. “Our investigation found that subtitles from 173,536 YouTube videos, siphoned from more than 48,000 channels, were used by Silicon Valley heavyweights, including Anthropic, Nvidia, Apple, and Salesforce,” Proof News said. The publicly available dataset, created by nonprofit AI research lab EleutherAI, includes video transcripts from the likes of the Wall Street Journal, NPR, and the BBC, as well as YouTube giants such as MrBeast and Marques Brownlee. Major record labels, including Universal, Sony, and Warne have joined forces to sue Verizon for alleged copyright law violation for providing a service to those accused of music piracy, Ars Technica reported. Universal, Sony, and Warner said they have sent more than 340,000 copyright infringement notices to Verizon over the last four years. "Those notices identify specific subscribers on Verizon's network stealing Plaintiffs' sound recordings through peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing networks that are notorious hotbeds for copyright infringement," the lawsuit said. OnePlus has announced a trio of tech devices that will be available soon. The OnePlus Nord Buds 3 Pro come with hybrid adaptive Active Noise Cancellation and BassWave 2.0 technology, Lifewire reported. The buds offer up to 44 hours of battery life with the included sharing case, and come in Soft Jade and Starry Black colors. The Pad 2 tablet has a 12.1-inch 3K display and six stereo speakers, while the Watch 2R is powered by Wear OS 4 and offers a whopping 100-hours of battery life. The Pad 2 ($550), Watch 2R ($230), and Nord Buds 3 Pro ($80) are available for preorder now on the OnePlus website. The Stranger Things creators and Hilary Leavitt will executive produce Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, a horror drama from series creator Haley Z. Digital Trends said Kunitsu-Gami offers “an experience not quite like anything else out there,” and called it “one of the year’s best games,” while PC Gamer called it a “brilliant mix of deadly demons, divine dancing, and deft defense.” IGN called the single-player game, which is set in a mystical feudal Japan, a “fascinating, unique mix of action and strategy ... that left me yearning to know more about its inspirations and intricacies.
