OpenAI’s new GPT-4o turbocharges ChatGPT's voice mode |
Company made a slew of exciting artificial intelligence-focused announcements during its spring update on Monday
|
OpenAI has launched GPT-4o, the latest model behind its popular ChatGPT chatbot. New capabilities include seeing, hearing, and having a spoken conversation in a remarkably human-like way (it even pauses when interrupted), Tech Crunch reported. During a live demonstration, the now voice-enabled chatbot performed math and translation tasks and even told a bedtime story. The technology can also read your emotions by assessing your facial expression in any given moment. You can check out all of the demos from the event on OpenAI's YouTube channel. The consensus among commentators is that the new features represent more of an iteration than any kind of giant leap in generative AI. The leap is expected with the launch of GPT-5 later this year ... |

Meta launches beta version of Travel Mode for Quest headsets
|
It's similar to the feature on Apple's Vision Pro headset |
Meta’s Quest 2 and 3 now have a Travel Mode designed to make it easier to use the virtual reality headsets while in motion. “We specially tuned our algorithms to account for the motion of an airplane,” Meta said in a post, adding that other modes of transport will be added later. Road to VR explained that without Travel Mode, using Quest on an airplane is only really possible once you’ve reached a consistent altitude and direction. “When you’re taxiing, banking, taking off or landing, you’ll quickly find yourself being unwittingly jostled around in VR, making it distractingly unusable.” it said. To try Travel Mode, opt in under the Experimental features section of the Quest's Settings menu and then toggle Travel Mode on and off from Quick Setting ... |
