It only took 41 years, but Notepad just got its most important update ever

Microsoft has finally added a couple of essential features to its app

Microsoft has finally updated Notepad with two key features: autocorrect and spellcheck.

The computer giant announced the addition in March, and over the past few days, Windows 11 users have been getting the update, Digital Trends reported.

All word processor software comes with a spellcheck feature these days, but it was once a premium feature. Microsoft Word didn't get it until the early 1990s, seven years after it launched. Notepad came out in 1983 as a stripped-down version of Word that offered basic features such as bold and underline. The software has received updates along the way, but it’s taken 41 years to finally add spellcheck and autocorrect ...

I used the CMF Phone 1, and it’s 2024’s best smartphone bargain

The new phone from Nothing is 'cheap, decent, and a bit crazy'

Nothing’s “CMF” sub-brand has just unveiled its first handset, the CMF Phone 1, Digital Trends reported.

Priced at an eye-catching $199, you might expect the new smartphone to be another run-of-the-mill budget phone. But you’d be wrong. Nothing has taken care to make a solid device with some fun elements. The CMF Phone 1 has a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 2,000 nits peak brightness.

It features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip and 5G connectivity, a 50-megapixel rear camera with electronic image stabilization, and a 16MP selfie camera. You can also swap out different-colored backplates and add various accessories ...

Apple TV’s InSight feature is ready to take on Amazon Prime Video’s X-Ray

New feature coming to the TV app aims to satisfy curious minds

A new developer beta for tvOS 18 gives us our first look at a major new feature coming to Apple TV. It’s called “InSight” and it works a lot like Amazon Prime Video's X-Ray, offering fast access to information on who you're watching, as well as details on any music that’s playing, Digital Trends reported.

During a movie or TV show, you can pause or press down (the latter takes you straight to the info) to see thumbnails of the actors on the screen, including their real name and the character's name. Select one of the thumbnails and you'll get more information about the actor, along with links to other movies or shows that they've worked on ...

First Fly Me to the Moon reviews are in

The high-concept screwball comedy is set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing

The first reviews are in for Fly Me to the Moon, starring Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, and Woody Harrelson.

Variety described the Greg Berlanti-directed flick as “the rare 21st-century rom-com to boast the brains and heart to support repeat viewing,” while Collider called it “an enjoyable and memorable rom-com with strong writing and performances.”

However, despite praising the chemistry between Johansson and Tatum, Deadline said that due to the movie’s “increasingly wayward plotting and thoroughly distracting manipulation of known history in the pursuit of evermore ridiculous laughs, Fly Me to the Moon winds up more screwy than screwball” ...
