Missing Children's Day 2023
Dear John,

On May 25, 1979, 6-year-old Etan Patz vanished from a New York Street on his way to his school bus. Every year, on the anniversary of Etan’s disappearance, the nation observes Missing Children's Day.

In 2022, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children assisted law enforcement, families, and child welfare with 27,644 cases of missing children. For most families, thankfully children are found quickly, Sadly, for many others it takes months or even years before there are answers about their missing child. At NCMEC, we never stop looking, and will never give up hope.

Every child deserves a safe childhood.

For the families that NCMEC works with, National Missing Children’s Day is an opportunity to generate new attention for their missing loved ones, and garner new and helpful leads.

NCMEC wants to remind and empower the public to be on the lookout for missing children in their area. Take the time today to view and share our missing child posters and please call us at 1-800-THE-LOST if you think you may have any information on an open case or other tips to report. All it takes is one person to pay attention, do the right thing, and a missing child could be brought home.

Thank you for believing in our mission and aiding us in the fight for child safety. Your friendship and support help make our work possible.

Warmly,

Michelle DeLaune
