"What is not in a state of runaway? Just try hanging on to a thought or following a news cycle. Just try to hang on to any cycle—even a weather cycle. Fires & virus & mass migration are the forms of runaway most visible to us. But it’s a feeling inside—that you can’t both 'keep up' at the pace technology requires and stay human, can’t absorb at the speed which permits 'lived experience,' so you need to short-circuit or bypass it."
