GREENVILLE, IL â Ms. Amanda "Mandy" Bonn, a teacher at the Illinois Center for Autism in Greenville, Illinois, is the September recipient of the Weber Chevroletâs Tools for Teachers award for $500. She is said to have superb patience and make the impossible possible. One of her studentâs parents says in just two years their son attending ICA now read, do math, and control his impulses. âI really enjoy when the proverbial light bulb comes on and the students finally achieve what they have been working on. Whether it is tying their shoe, learning to read, or even counting money because long before previous schools might have told them, hey it takes too long, itâs a little bit harder for you.â Amanda says. âHere at ICA we work on meeting the kidsâ where they are at. I tell them you can do this. You are smart, and we will take this one step at a time. If we need to go over it again, we can go over it again because I want them to learn and they too want to learn.â Amanda joined KPLR 11âs Mike Columbo via Zoom Wednesday, September 30th, 2020 to present her award of $500 from Weber Chevrolet. âShe was event patience and helpful with a certain news anchor who forgot to record the Zoom interview. We did it twice!â Colombo stated. Watch Mandy's segment: https://fox2now.com/news/kplr/tools-for-teachers/weber-chevrolet-tools-for-teachers/ Know a deserving teacher? Nominate them today!
