Spectacular Vintage Movie Art
When I started collecting lobby cards about 35 years ago, I soon gravitated to lobby cards with superior border Art. Some of the lobby cards had terrific unique border Art and/or Art that resembled the Art from the One Sheet posters. ... . And it was one 1950s Sci Fi classic that had some of the best border Art of any lobby cards of the 20th century. The film is “Invasion of the Saucermen”. As you can see above the border Art combined with spectacular images of the Cabbage Head creatures made for a masterpiece movie poster. . Many of my favorite movies like "The Wizard of OZ" had rather less exciting lobby cards with no border Art. . Our Top Ten Lobby Cards with extraordinary border Art are as follows: (Click on Blue links to see more) . 1. “Invasion of the Saucer-Men”, 1957 2. “JAWS”, 1975 3. “Wolf Man”, 1941 4. “KING KONG”, 1931 5. “Abbott & Costello”, 1948: Especially their Frankenstein lobby Art was stunning! 6. "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon", 1949: My 2nd favorite after Saucer-Men 7. “HARVEY”, 1950 8. "Amazing Colossal Man", 1957 9.
