Based on the registrations for the UX Conference in 2020, we have calculated which countries had the most UX professionals participate relative to each country’s population.
The world’s most user-centered countries in 2020 were: Singapore USA Denmark Switzerland Netherlands Canada Norway Belgium U.K. Ireland This is a bunch of rich countries, so we would definitely expect them to score high in caring about UX. Another way of looking at the data is to consider what countries are investing in the future, in terms of UX investment relative to GDP (i.e., of the resources they have available right now, how much do they invest in UX and thus in growing their knowledge-work potential for the future).
In this analysis, the world’s leading UX-investing countries in 2020 were: Singapore Croatia Lebanon North Macedonia Jordan Honduras Uruguay Georgia (country of) Ukraine Canada These lists only include countries with more than 1 million inhabitants. Some smaller countries and territories actually ran up even more impressive investments in UX in 2020: Bermuda, Gibraltar, and the Channel Island of Jersey all ranked even higher than Singapore. These small places are strong in financial services and gaming; two industries that invest substantially in UX because of the huge ROI. The Isle of Man, Malta, and Luxembourg all rank below Singapore but above the USA.
All said, among bigger countries, the winner is clear: Singapore is the world’s most user-centered country. |
