Measuring in at about 10,000 square feet and lavishly embellished both inside and out, the five-story home last year served as the site of the 48th Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House. Ample reception rooms with original architectural detailing are complemented by an updated kitchen, a media room, a wine cellar, and a 2,000-square-foot roof terrace with expansive views over the Hudson River. Out in Los Angeles, the fate of Marilyn Monroe’s home, where she was found dead in 1962, remains up in the air. The current owners, a couple who live next door and purchased the property last year for $8.4 million, are seeking to demolish the modest hacienda-style home. Their efforts were thwarted earlier in the year by preservationists, but the couple has now sued the city, asserting their right to raze the famed residence.
