Is Baltimore a remote work haven?
More than one-third of job applications in one nearby city were for remote work.
That stat, sourced from LinkedIn and referring to Wilmington, Delaware, intrigued me last week when I read about it on our sister site, and I'm still thinking about it on this Monday. The pandemic has brought a wave of relocations and resignations. Did it really create remote work havens like Wilmington, Bend and Asheville, or are we still on the way toward something else?
It might depend on where you are. On the flipside of Wilmington's top-3 status, New York and San Francisco had the lowest number of remote work applies. The cities, both of which are home to big offices, had rates of remote application below 1 in 5.
Which side would Baltimore fall on? And, more to the point, should the city be pushing to attract more remote workers from beyond its borders? Tell us what you think at baltimore@technical.ly, and maybe we'll chat for an upcoming story.
