Hi John, Rather predictably, the Australian Labor Party has signalled to the Federal Government that it will not stand in the way of the highly unpopular and controversial encryption bill being passed by Christmas, with the ALP doing everything but ending the process of inquiry so that the Government can have its way.
Quora, a site that hosts questions and answers posed and responded to by everyday people, has reported a major security breach with up to 100 million users being affected. The Federal Government and the Labor Party have reportedly reached a compromise on the encryption bill and it will clear Parliament before Thursday, the last sitting day for the year. The Federal Government says Labor's initial suggestions about passing a cut-down version of the encryption bill were not acceptable, and a compromise announced on Tuesday had removed some of Labor's demands. New Zealand-headquartered and Australian-listed accounting software provider Xero is claiming one million-plus subscribers signed up in the combined ANZ regional market and using its cloud accounting technology. IT security company Optic Security Group has launched in the Australian and New Zealand markets following a merger of six entities with combined revenues in excess of $100 million into a newly-formed entity.
