TRB Webinar: Bridge Scour Risk Management
Flooding and scour are a leading cause of bridge failures in the United States. Agencies responsible for bridge safety seek effective threat-mitigation strategies, including installation of scour countermeasures to monitor, control, inhibit, change, delay, or minimize stream instability and bridge-scour susceptibility. TRB is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM Eastern that will identify current practices of bridge scour risk management. Presenters will propose an implementation plan to improve the consistency in applying risk management techniques. This webinar draws on research from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Domestic Scan Program 15-02: Bridge Scour Risk Management. Learning Objective At the end of this webinar, you will able to: Identify various countermeasure designs and techniques of bridge scour management Describe a Plan of Action (POA) and innovative methods to implement POAs Professional Development Hour Information Professional engineers (PEs) who register and attend the entire webinar as an individual will be awarded 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs). TRBs webinar program awards PDH credits only to the registered individual, and not to other members of a group that view the webinar together. To be eligible for the credits, individuals must remain signed in for the entire webinar, including for any question and answer session following the presentations. Pre-registration is required.
