Treasures Too Amazing to Sell

What are investors and collectors REALLY putting their money on?

At least once a week someone asks me, “Do you have any vintage material not on your website?”. My first instinct is to say No. However, treasures from my Personal Collection are not listed. These are items I have collected that I enjoy owning and displaying in my home or office. And also vintage relics that are just too “special” to part with.

.

For example, not many people know one of my passions is collecting 1960s Matchboxes, that have Never been opened, and Never removed from their original display blister pack packaging. FAR More Rare and difficult to find that the matchbox cars and even original boxes found regularly on eBay. This collecting passion originates from my early years of about six years old when my mother got for my sixth birthday several Matchbox cars. The Best present I ever received as a child. I can still remember the feeling of elation and euphoria. I guess that's one reason why we all collect, is to recapture that incredible exhilarating childhood innocence experience.

All I can tell you is that when I sit in my office and look at my display of Unopened Blisterpack Matchboxes, I am in my own world of bliss.

.

And then there is an early 1930s Charlie Chan film, “The Black Camel” with Bela Lugosi that has almost no surviving movie paper. About 25 years ago I acquired a Herald. And for the next 20+ years I was obsessed with finding a 1931 lobby card with Bela in the scene. At some point I accepted the fact that one probably does not exist. And then about three years ago, I found this Holy Grail. Of course it immediately went into my own Collection and I’ve never listed it for sale.

So today ONLY I am posting it for sale. . And frankly, I hope it doesn’t sell. And because of its Masterpiece status, I won’t accept Offers on it. It’s far too special to negotiate the value of it.
