Good afternoon from team Lancashire Post, I hope you are all well and making the most of this mild weather - it's a relief from the heat but we could do without the rain! Don't forget you can keep up to date with the latest breaking news all day in one place via our news blog. We are expecting updates from the Old Bailey today as the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber, Hashem Abedi, is being sentenced - he was found guilty of 22 counts of murder, including those of the Lancashire victims, and may face life in jail. Plus, can you help police? A shop in the Plungington area of Preston was targeted by shoplifters last night and you may be able to identify the offenders caught on CCTV as staff tried to stop them. In yet another blow, more than 1,000 jobs are at risk as Pizza Express announced closure of 73 restaurants. And the RSPCA has issued an appeal for information after a stray dog was found with such a large abdominal tumour its belly was dragging along the ground. In another incident they rescued oil covered swans from a canal. They are doing a fantastic job - thankyou to them. As always we will keep you abreast of the constantly updating Covid-19 situation during the day. Don't forget as many people as possible need to be tested in the Preston area - even if you don't have symptoms. Preston's deputy council leader did just that. And there is just one thing left to say and that's good luck to all the GCSE students expecting their results tomorrow. Goodness knows we hope for a smoother process after the suitably named 'Algo-shambles' of the A'levels. Let us know how you all get on! Have a lovely day and don't forget that 90% of what we report in Lancashire is good news and about fantastic people.
