Good afternoon,

Today we are dealing with tragedy within our community following the death of nine-year-old Jordan Banks.

He was just playing football at 5pm last night when he was struck by lightning and killed during an unexpected storm.

No child should be in danger while doing what he loves at teatime and today all thoughts are with the youngster's family and friends for their unbearable loss.

Jordan was a selfless child who has featured smiling in our pages during his charity efforts for a mental health charity.

It was not his time to go, and the community is already pulling together to help a family who is enduring the unimaginable.

RIP Jordan.

Regards, Nicola
