 December 24, 2020  Since Charles Dickens first introduced the world to Ebenezer Scrooge in 1843, the humbug-ing curmudgeon has been synonymous with avarice and contempt for his fellow man.
And there's nobody in President Donald Trump's Cabinet who gives Scrooge a run for his money quite like Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Hayes Brown argues in his latest essay this Christmas Eve. Scrooge at least had the hope of redemption through the intervention of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.
Ross is richer than Scrooge — but also a liar, a terrible boss, and committed to hurting people. In short: Ross is what would have happened if the spirits' visit had no effect on old Scrooge.
