| Hello. Global markets have rallied after US President Donald Trump paused the implementation of higher tariffs, but his trade war with China continues. From Kyiv, Ukraine correspondent James Waterhouse assesses whether President Volodymyr Zelensky will need to reinvent himself again to succeed in Trump's new world order. And finally, take a look at basketball star LeBron James in Ken doll form, as he becomes the first male athlete to be recreated in Mattel plastic. | |

TOP OF THE AGENDA | Tariff battle between China and US rages on |
|
| | In the early hours of Thursday, Trump took to social media to promise "more great days" are "coming". Credit: Reuters | Markets have made substantial gains after President Trump announced a 90-day pause for countries he had hit with higher tariffs just hours after implementing them. As North America correspondent Anthony Zurcher writes, the US is "now making nice – or at least nicer - with nations that had faced their retaliatory trade fire". But it's a different story for China, with the trade war between the two nations continuing to escalate. If neither country backs down, the global economic future will look "very different, possibly very dangerous", writes senior North America correspondent John Sudworth, noting that "the world's two biggest superpowers may find themselves locked in a fight for winner-takes-all economic supremacy". |
|
| | | - China hits back: Before Trump hiked tariffs on Chinese goods to 125%, Beijing increased its own import taxes on American items to 84%, in the latest tit-for-tat.
- Tariffs listed: Take a look at the full list of tariffs briefly imposed – and the new updated rate by country.
- Car tariffs: While Trump has rowed back on higher tariff levels to many countries, import taxes of 25% remain on cars. Canada has now responded, slapping the same measure on the US.

| BEYOND THE HEADLINES | From comedian to wartime president - can Zelensky transform again? |
|
| | | Zelensky was a comedian when he announced that he would be running in Ukraine's 2019 presidential election. Credit: Reuters | The last three years have dramatically transformed Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky from the man he was when he swept to power in 2019. He has been crucial in keeping his country in the spotlight and convincing allies to support Ukraine as it battles Russia's invasion. But with the unpredictability of President Trump's second term, James Waterhouse takes a look at whether Zelensky will have to transform again. |

And finally... in Barbie World | LeBron James is no stranger to making history, but this time it's in the toy aisle rather than the basketball court. The NBA all-time top scorer has become the first male athlete to be turned into a Ken doll. The figurine even gives a nod to his 6'9" height, standing an extra inch above the other Kens. As you can see, when LeBron met LeBron, the sports star seemed pretty pleased to be a "Kenbassador". | |
