Credit: Getty Images | Donald Trump is used to making headlines. The former president has been a regular feature in global politics ever since he descended a golden escalator at his Trump Tower in New York City in June 2015 to announce his bid for the White House. During this campaign too he had enjoyed widespread coverage. But after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's strategy changed. Ms Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have dominated the news cycle in recent weeks, leaving Trump in the unusual position of fighting for the spotlight, observes US special correspondent Katty Kay. Trump's announcement that he will debate Ms Harris on ABC on 10 September turned the attention once again on him, Katty writes, until the cameras moved on to a Harris-Walz event in Michigan.
