Hello Voornaam,

Truworths is going ahead with a final dividend after warning in May that a payout was unlikely due to the impact of Covid-19 on sales this year. While there has been a big impact, the clothing and footwear retailer says its cash realisation rate - a measure of how profits are converted into cash - was much better this year than in previous years.

Impala Platinum's shareholders will also be pleased with their full-year dividend as the platinum producer continues to benefit from operational improvements and significantly higher prices for its metal. It didn't pay dividends for years, before resuming payouts this year.

Santam, however, isn't paying an interim dividend due to uncertainty around Covid-19-related claims. City Lodge is also holding back after it earned almost no revenue in the final quarter of its financial year. Telkom, which has suspended dividend payments for the next three years in order to preserve capital, has poured cold water on claims that it's preparing for a rights issue.

Also in today's newsletter, SA born multibillionaire Elon Musk is known for his ambitious ventures, including Tesla and Space X. But have you heard of Neuralink? Rand Swiss's Viv Govender says the others don't even come close to this in terms of ambition. Unlike Space X, it's not rocket science. Instead, it may involve a robotic surgeon implanting a computer chip on your brain. For more on the story and how you can invest in Brain Machine Interface (BMI) technologies, click here.

Have a great weekend.

The latest from Ingham Analytics

The contrast between how the Nasdaq is behaving (riotously) and the KBW Index of banks in the US (subdued) is striking, say Ingham Analytics in the latest Equity and Credit Markets Insight entitled "Powell-ing along". But there is something of a link - and the US Federal Reserve is a common denominator. Risk-taking they say has reached epic proportions, but how do you play this as an investor and what are the driving forces at play?

This follows on from "Gold bug?", "Skin on the bones" and "An Apple a day...?" - all highly topical, helpful and popular downloads.
