There’s something about being around kids… they disarm us, teach us, and inspire us.
Hanging around my daughter and her friends, my mind is continually blown – not just by their hearts, but what they bring out in ours.
We went out the other day, Rebecca on her bike and me running. And, as we neared fairly large intersections, again and again, the reaction of complete strangers took me by surprise. Slowing, sometimes stopping in every direction, some waving – aware of their power and our vulnerability.
I was moved by their kindness for others, giving away precious moments from their busy day. I was humbled, as it reminded me that we all have so much more in common than not. Especially, wanting what’s best for our kids, families, and even society; that love really matters.
I also couldn’t help but realize, John, living in Florida, that inside those cars were probably equal amounts of Republicans and Democrats, and how wildly less important those labels are.
Wishing you and yours much love and joy this season -
