“Daddy… are you crying?”

“A tiny bit…” I manage, between hidden sniffling and embarrassing snorts.

At least they’re tears of empathy and hope, evoked by the brilliant Frances Hodgson Burnett, author of my new favorite book, “A Little Princess.”
