Good morning. Talya, your Friday Forwarding the News correspondent, is out sick; the newsletter will return on Monday. Today we're sending you the latest Jewish news in a different format.

New this morning:

  • The State Department issued the first visa revocation for an international student for protesting the war in Gaza. The agency is launching an AI-powered effort, called "Catch and Revoke," to scan for international students who may have expressed support for Hamas or other terrorists, including by taking part in campus protests against the war, which the administration has broadly characterized as “pro-jihadist.” (Fox News, Axios)
  • President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, suggested that the U.S. might join Israel in taking further military action against Hamas if the 59 remaining hostages, many of whom are dead, are not returned. (Wall Street Journal)
  • Some Palestinians freed as part of phase one of the ceasefire deal say that they and their families are experiencing harassment from Israeli troops. (NPR)
And now news, features, and opinion to start the day...
