| Consultation on policy options and potential amendments to Annexes of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has launched a public consultation seeking views on proposed government policy options relating to the domestic management of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). The United Nations Stockholm Convention has recently been amended. The UK, as a party to the Convention, is obligated to implement the additions and amendments at a national level by making changes to the POPs Regulation. A number of the policy options being consulted on are related to this. Other policy options are being considered following recent reviews of the POPs Regulation and in response to scientific or technical progress. Defra are looking to gather further evidence to inform future policy positions and potential responses to upcoming and future amendments to the UNs Stockholm Convention on POPs. The consultation closes on 27 April 2023. View the consultation If you have any questions relating to this ebulletin, pleasecontact us. |
