HSE publishes regulatory management options analysis (RMOA) This RMOA is a technical document examining the risks posed by the use, import and manufacture of PFAS and the most appropriate options for management of these risks. Where there is the strongest evidence of significant risk, it provides preliminary recommendations for additional measures within UK REACH to manage them. HSE, acting as the Agency for UK REACH, and supported by specialists in the Environment Agency, concludes in the RMOA that it would be appropriate to initiate some or all of the following risk management measures to better regulate PFAS: - Introduce one or more restrictions on the use of certain PFAS
- Apply the authorisation provisions of UK REACH to control those PFAS used in processing aids in the manufacture and processing of fluorinated polymers
In addition, the RMOA concludes that formal evaluation according to UK REACH should be undertaken for some other PFAS, with the aim of better understanding the risks they may pose. |
