Reviews WEB-FIRST REVIEWS OF BOOKS AND MEDIA Jenny Colgan's The Christmas Bookshop is one of this week's starred fiction titles. The "Edinburgh-set Christmas novel is full of references to books, descriptions of the twisty insides of a bookshop, and fun details about Scotland, Quakerism, and the centuries-old Great Yew Tree of Ormiston.... Get ready to root for these charming characters as they bungle their way toward a merry Christmas." Garbo, by Robert Gottlieb, is a starred performing arts selection. "Countless books have been written about Greta Garbo since her self-imposed exile in the 1940s, yet this comprehensive biography may be the final word.... This is a brilliantly written and constructed portrait of a true icon of the cinema." Professor Charlatan Bardot’s Travel Anthology to the Most (Fictional) Haunted Buildings in the Weird, Wild World, edited by Charlatan Bardot and Eric J. Guignard, is one of this week's starred horror selections. "An ambitious and beautifully constructed anthology that fans of the genre won’t want to miss; a necessary addition to any library." Also in horror, Gordon B. White's starred title Rookfield "takes our collective pandemic anxieties and weaves them into a wonderfully weird and unexpected horror tale. Don’t overlook this gem."
